Day 8 of the CBI Investigation: Sushant SIngh Rajput Death Case; CBI summoned Rhea, NCB sent notice to Gaurav Arya

Finally, on the 8th day of the CBI investigation the prime accused in Sushant's death case, Rhea Chakraborty was summoned by the CBI; NCB sent a notice to Gaurav Arya to summon by 31st August, Siddhart Pithani and others continue to be grilled

28^th August 2020: 

The entire nations demand to summon Rhea Chakraborty to the CBI in Sushant Singh Rajput’s Death case has finally been answered. Today the day eventually arrived when accusing number one, Rhea Chakraborty was called to the CBI office for the interrogation. Rhea reached the DRDO guesthouse (where the CBI is conducting its interrogation) at around 10.30 in the morning. She arrived at the office with some important documents that could have been required during the interrogation. She is being interrogated by SP ‘Nupur Prasad’, who is one of the 4 people leading this investigation. Today Rhea was grilled for almost 10 hours. 

CBI also interrogated Rhea’s brother Showik Chakraborty for many hours. The prime people who were present on the day of the incident, and who are already being grilled continuously from the very beginning continued to be questioned today as well. This includes Siddhart Pithani (Sushant’s flatmate), Deepedh Sawant (household help), Samuel Miranda (house manager), Neeraj Singh and Keshav (Cooks).

Siddarth Pithani is the one who is being cross-questioned the most as he is the man who claims to have brought Sushant’s body down while it was hanging. He is the one who gave his first confession after 5 days of continuous grilling and told the CBI that there were some IT professionals who came in the house on 8^th of June, the day Rhea left Sushant’s place and collected all the digital data from Sushant’s device in 8 hard disks. 

As per reports, it seems that Siddhart Pithani has given the names of those peoples who entered the house on 8^th of June, to the CBI. Siddhart was first interrogated at the DRDO guesthouse and was later taken to the CBI headquarters in Mumbai.

Another important development is the drug aspect of this case, a team of Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) went to Goa looking for ‘Gaurav Arya’ (alleged drug peddler as per the retrieved WhatsApp chats of Rhea) and posted a notice  asking him to summon in front of the NCB by 31^st August.

The NCB team from Delhi had already arrived yesterday and today they held a meeting with the Mumbai NCB team. As Rhea’s WhatsApp chat clearly mentions a lot of people involved in the drug racket, it is to see who comes under the NCB radar first. They will probably look from all angles: the linked people mentioned in the chat, places mentioned, the drug dealers, people who were delivering drugs during the lockdown, check whether Rhea and her associates mentioned in the chats are part of any big Drug Cartel, track down all those drugs links that could be possible even outside Mumbai, are there any big personalities involved in this drug racket too, etc. Well there are many aspects which the NCB have to cross-check and have to work around the clock to connect the dots, otherwise, it will give enough time to the accused in the drug dealing to clear their hands and even escape the city.

Though the CBI’s first goal is to find whether it’s a Suicide or Murder, as per reports by now CBI is a bit convinced that the chances of Homicide angle are more. The way witnesses are giving a contradictory statement and no hard conclusion could be drawn from their answers, it’s evident that there is something fishy in the matter. Earlier even the AIIMS team told CBI to investigate this case keeping in mind a homicide angle to it.

Another event that took place today was that Rhea filed a complaint in the SantaCruz Police Station to provide her protection to and fro from her house to the CBI office. This is because the media people are continuously tracing her everywhere. They were even present at the gate of her apartment as a result of which when Rhea reached her place, her car took a U-turn and went straight to the SantaCruz Police Station complaining against the constant media encroaching and seeking for an escort. The police then escorted her till her house.

Rhea is escaping media questions and only giving selective interviews to selective channels for which those channels are being severely inculpated by majority of people. Today it was her first day of the investigation by the CBI and it is expected that she will be called for next round of interrogation tomorrow.
