Former Indian President 'Pranab Mukherjee' passes away at the age of 84

Pranab Mukherjee, the Former President of India passes away on Monday 31st August, at the age of 84. India mourns the death of an incredible politician, scholar, and one of the brightest and profound parliamentarians. Serving Indian politics since Indira Gandhi time, he has worked in all fields of politics. With his death, an era in history comes to an end.

The former president of India, Bharat Ratna Shri Pranab Mukherjee passed away today at the age of 84. He was admitted to the R&R army hospital in Delhi for brain surgery for the removal of a clot in his brain. Though the surgery was successful, later it was found that he got a lung infection and was also found Corona positive. Since then his health had been deteriorating as per the hospital bulletin. Initial he was reported to be on a ventilator and then a few days ago he went into a deep coma.

Today his son Abhijit Mukherjee took to Twitter to announce his sad demise. He wrote, "With a heavy heart, this is to inform that my father, Pranab Mukherjee, passed away in spite of best efforts of the doctors at the RR hospital and Prayers, Duas and Prathnas from people throughout India." He expressed his thanks to all the people of India for their prayers.

After the news broke in, condolences from around the nation and world poured in as India lost one of its brightest and most profound parliamentarians and with it a great leader and a wise human being. His contribution to the Indian Politics has been immense whether being the member of the Rajya Sabha, leader of the Lok Sabha, Minister of External Affairs, Minister of Defence, Minister of Finance to being the President of India. He has served in all sectors of Indian democracy and its pillars. His knowledge and experience in politics was unparalleled and incomparable. His understanding of politics, its functionality, and its insight was something that all leaders wanted to learn. The leaders of this nation had huge respect for him including the opposition for his wisdom and his nature with which he put his thoughts in front of them. 

Pranav Mukherjee mostly called Pranab Da within the political boundaries has devoted his entire life to Indian politics. He has been part of Indian politics right from the time of Indira Gandhi. He spent decades serving this country. The sad news of his death is mourned by every Indian today as with him an era in the history comes to an end.

Born on 11th December 1935, Pranab Mukherjee served as the 13th President of India from 2012 to 2017.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to his family, friends, admirers, and supporters from across the nation. He tweeted saying, "I was new to Delhi in 2014. From day 1, I was blessed to have the guidance, support, and blessing of Shri Pranab Mukherjee. I will always cherish my interactions with him."

In another tweet that followed, Mr. Modi wrote, "As an Indian President he made Rashtrapati Bhavan even more accessible to the common citizens. He made the President house a centre of learning, culture, innovation, science, and adventure. His wise counsel on key political matters will never be forgotten by me."

PM's other tweet wrote, "India grieves the passing away of Bharat Ratna Shri Pranab Mukherjee. He has left an indelible mark on the development trajectory of our nation. A scholar par excellence, a towering statesman, he was admired across the political spectrum and by all sections of society."

Many other politicians and leaders took to Twitter to share their condolences for his family and friends. This includes our current president ‘Ram Nath Kovind’ expressing his sorrow and pain on his demise. In one of his tweet, he wrote, "Endowed with perspicacity and wisdom, Bharat Ratna Shri Mukherjee combined tradition and modernity. In his 5 decade long illustrious public life, he remained rooted to the ground irrespective of the exalted offices he held. He endeared himself to people across the political spectrum”.

Leaders from around the world also showered their condolences for his family. Shri Pranab Mukherjee’s last riot will be carried tomorrow, Tuesday 1st September. May his soul rest in Peace!
